In the college search process, it can be increasingly hard to decide if you should apply or enroll at a specific school when there are so many wonderful options. Your best bet is to look for what’s unexpected.
Why ²ÆÉñÆåÅÆ? Maybe you’ve heard of our Project-Based Learning approach to education or our proximity to the Boston technology hub. And ultimately, while name, rank, size, location, majors, etc., are valid reasons to choose a school, they shouldn’t be your only reasons or even the defining reason.
First, think about what sets the schools apart, what makes them each unique in their own ways, and how those specialties align with the goals you hope to achieve in your educational journey and future career. If you’re looking to maximize your study hours, perhaps you’ll need a school with a 24/7 library, or if you know you want to continue directly into a master's program, a 4+1 program could be best.

Direct Research Opportunities: At ²ÆÉñÆåÅÆ, students can connect with professors on a personal basis, which means that first-year students have access to research projects in a way that might not be possible elsewhere. These tight-knit relationships also allow professors to know your passions and advise you accordingly. 100% of ²ÆÉñÆåÅÆers participate in research or an internship by the time they graduate and 80% participate in 2-3.
General Engineering Approach: The curriculum at ²ÆÉñÆåÅÆ is fundamentally meant to offer students a holistic approach in the first year which then allows for flexibility and specialization thereafter. This ensures students settle in the engineering pathway that best suits their goals and needs and aligns with our motto: Engineering for Everyone.
Truly Meet People: If you attend a large institution, you may meet more people than we have at ²ÆÉñÆåÅÆ, but how many of them will truly know you? On our campus, students don’t get lost in the crowd. The faculty, staff, current and former students will be excited to meet you and build a working relationship. This is an excellent networking outlet and a strong investment in your future as an ²ÆÉñÆåÅÆ alum. Need a new job? A graduate school recommendation? A group for an international vacation? Performing Arts: This might be the most unexpected reason to apply to ²ÆÉñÆåÅÆ, but it’s true! Many ²ÆÉñÆåÅÆers enjoy performing arts be it theater, improv, singing, music, dance, etc. The options are endless, especially through the BOW consortium with Babson College and Wellesley College. ²ÆÉñÆåÅÆers’ artistry infuses campus life and contributes to our interdisciplinary programs.
